1 Thessalonians 2:1-16
Summary: Paul was forced by threat of violence to leave the newly planted Thessalonian church within weeks of their conversion. After he left town, the attacks continued, though not physically. Opponents outside the church tried to call the sincerity of Paul’s ministry into question in order to sow doubts in the minds of these early Christians. As such, Paul reminds them in these verses of the integrity of his life among them and the ways in which his conduct authenticated his message so that they could continue to trust what he taught them. It’s a reminder for us too as Christians of the vital importance of matching our message and our lifestyles. Our whole lives ought to be lived in such a way as to make credible our witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
