Acts 1:6-11
Summary: While the disciples are still hoping for a sudden and final establishment of God’s kingdom on earth (v.6), Jesus tells them that the timing of these things is none of their concern. Their task is to be his witnesses. This is a repeat of what God said to Israel in Isaiah 43:10 where He means it is their task to show the world that there is only one God and salvation can be found in no one else. With this task comes the promise of the Holy Spirit who equipped these otherwise inadequate disciples to fulfill their glorious task. The same call and equipping is given to the church today as we wait for the return of Christ.
