2016-10-09: The Unlikely and Inevitable Convert

Acts 8:26-40

Summary: This is the third of a 6-part series on our new Vision Statement. This Sunday morning we’ll focus on the phrase, “…confident outreach…” The Ethiopian eunuch was not the kind of man most early Christians would have had on their radar screens as a prime candidate for evangelism. In addition, Philip (who lived to the North) had no reason to travel south out of Jerusalem. But Philip made himself available to the promptings of God’s Spirit, and discovered that God was preparing the perfect situation for him to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many have noted that this is how evangelism still works today. Our task is to learn to listen for and make ourselves available to the promptings of the Holy Spirit that we too might be used by God to boldly share the good news of Jesus with those we know and meet.
