John 15:1-8
Summary: This is the first of a 6-part series on our new Vision Statement. This sermon will focus on the phrase, “Our vision is to become more passionate followers of Jesus Christ…” Our text serves as a reminder of the very reason for which we have been saved; namely, to bear fruit (or as Paul says in Ephesians 2:10, to do good works). This is the vinegrower’s single-minded passion for us. However, like branches connected to the vine, Christ says we can do nothing unless we abide or remain in Him–which is why our vision statement must begin where it does. Anything we hope to accomplish as individuals or as a church must flow out of our connection to Jesus Christ. If we prioritize our relationship with the vine, the promise of Christ is that we will bear much fruit.
