Psalm 93
Summary: In one sentence, the theme of Psalm 93 is that Jesus Christ is the eternal King of the universe and therefore we need not be afraid of anything. Psalm 93 uses the metaphor of raging floodwaters–a symbol of chaos and uncertainty and vulnerability and fear–to illustrate God’s supreme power over everything in life that threatens us. The New Testament, notably in Ephesians 1:19b-23, describes Christ’s Ascension as His exultation to the throne of the universe. The Ascension is our assurance that all things are under the sovereign and majestic control of our gracious Saviour and King.
