Romans 8:17-25
Romans 8 is one of a number of places in scripture that reminds us of our eternal hope in the renewal of this creation, including the renewal of ourselves (body & soul). Which means that when we as Christians long for the return of Christ, we’re not longing for an escape from earth but for its restoration. The reason Paul paints such a glorious picture is to inspire patient hope in the midst of suffering. Paul reasons that those Christians most willing to patiently endure suffering and sacrifice for the sake of following Christ are those who hold most firmly to the hope of the eternal glory and renewal described in these verses…a glory that makes our present sufferings not even worth comparing.
