Revelation 21:1-8
Revelation 21, like the rest of the book, is a vision given to suffering and tempted Christians to encourage them to persevere in their faith in Jesus Christ. In this case, it’s a vision of the glory that awaits us on the day of Christ’s return. Not only will death and mourning and pain be abolished; most importantly, God will live among us again. This is a vision of every human longing being satisfied, and as Christians, we are meant to delight ourselves in this hope rather than settling for the fleeting joys of this world. If Christ has come to us in the humility of a little baby, we can be absolutely sure that he will return to us in his exalted glory.
