Revelation 5:1-14
Summary: We’re returning for one more week to the theme of our Lenten Series on Christian character development inspired by N.T. Wright’s book, After You Believe. One way to think about the development of our character is that it is preparation for our eternal vocation as royal priests. Revelation 5 is a vision of a lion/lamb who alone is able to open the scroll and bring God’s plan for his creation to its ultimate goal. Astonishingly, verse 10 says that our role in this eternal consummation is to “reign on the earth.” In other words, we’re destined to be royalty through the shed blood of the lamb. Character development is preparation for this eternally glorious responsibility of being royal representatives of the King.
